Default New (to me) 2000 Mercury 150HP OB install

Picked up this motor and decided to trash my old one and install this one.

This control had to go...

In favor of this one that came with the new motor...

Had to build a custom mounting bracket first...

..and install it...

..almost done... just some minor adjustments and then hook the plug onto the motor and the ends to the batt... then I gotta bleed the hyd steering, clean it up and zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz............ paddy time!

Here's the motor that the boat came with. A 1986 Merc Black Max with XL shaft kit.

Default OK guys, IT DONE!!! Well, almost...

Finished installing and tuning the controls... WORKS GREAT and looks ok.

Installed a new optima blue top... again, WORKS very nice. One nice feature of the new motor is that the hydraulic pump & stuff is contained as part of the motor bracket and doesn't hog up precious storage space like the older models do... another nice thing is that this motor came equipped with a bronze prop.

The engine starts easy, runs great and you can steer it with a pinkie. Seastar Pro hydrualic is defintely the way to go.

Wife is busy sewing up a set of brand new denim cushion covers for the cabin. She did a great job on the two sides and the center, now she's finishing up the v-shaped forward cushion. Maybe I'll post some pics when she's done. They look great and I think they'll be durable.

Last, while priming the engine for another blast of my new motor, POP! The stinkin primer bulb pops and gas goes squirting all over my freshly scrubbed deck! DANG! Gotta fix that before we can shove off

Hopefully some paddy dwellers will get this view of my boat when it's time to gt gaffed. (hopefully, we won't need the paddle to get back to the dock... LOL I'll let you all know how next sat pans out...

Tomorrow, it's family cruise time and maybe a lttle cast or two for grumpies.
